Manama: Jan. 31 — (BNA) A scientific research discussed at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) concluded that genetic transformations in human body proteins contribute to spontaneous recurrent miscarriages in pregnant women.
The Saudi researcher Fatima Saeed Al-Shaikh conducted her scientific study under the topic: (Z Protein and ZPI Protein Metamorphosis) linked with recurrent miscarriages as part of the requirements to obtain a master’s degree in medical labs from the Arabian Gulf University’s Faculty of Medicine under supervision of Professor Wasseem Al-Alamawi.

The study was applied on a specimen of 288 women diagnosed with recurrent miscarriage in comparison with 308 women who did not show any gestation-related complaints. The study revealed that blood clots could lead to recurrent miscarriages. The study relied on DNA analyses for Z protein for women who sustained recurrent miscarriages.

The study was conducted in collaboration between Dr. Firkiyya Mustafa’s Clinic and Dr. Abdullah Isa, Ob-Gyn Specialist in AGU and Salmaniya Medical Complex Obstetrics-Gynecology Department.
